Major investors back the round
The round was led by Lightspeed, with Wellington Management, the growth equity business of Goldman Sachs Alternatives, and Tiger Global acting as co-leads. T. Rowe Price and SV Angel also participated, while existing backers including Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia, Index Ventures, GIC, Sapphire Ventures, and Amplify increased their stakes.
Founded in 2019 by Samar Abbas and Maxim Fateev — engineers with long careers at Amazon, Microsoft, and Uber — Temporal sells what it calls a durable execution engine: software that records the state of a running process so long, multi-step tasks can survive failures and resume instead of crashing. Abbas, who moved from chief technology officer to chief executive in 2024, says the approach was built for exactly the reliability problem AI agents now create.
Revenue more than triples
The company said its annualized revenue run rate has passed $250 million, growing more than 200 percent year over year, with net dollar retention above 200 percent since February. Its managed cloud service processed more than 1.9 trillion actions in August — up over 350 percent from a year earlier — and open-source installations reached 43 million.
Temporal counts more than 4,300 paying customers, including OpenAI, Snap, Netflix, Nvidia, and JPMorgan Chase. As AI teams across Pakistan and other emerging markets move from demos to production agents that handle payments, onboarding, and customer support, the appetite for infrastructure that keeps those agents running without interruption is only likely to grow.
