PC gamers may not have to wait years for Grand Theft Auto VI. According to a new report from GamesBeat, Rockstar Games plans to release the PC version of GTA 6 in the first quarter of 2027 — just a few months after the game's November 19 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The outlet says it confirmed the timing with four industry sources familiar with the studio's plans, all speaking on condition of anonymity. Rockstar and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, have not officially announced a PC version and have not commented on the report.

A record-fast PC port

If the report proves accurate, it would be the fastest console-to-PC turnaround in Rockstar's history. GTA 5 took nearly 19 months to reach PC, and Red Dead Redemption 2 needed about a year. A March 2027 launch would shrink that gap to roughly four months.
It marks a sharp break from tradition: Rockstar has long treated PC releases as an afterthought, often arriving a year or more after the console debut. Bringing PC players in early suggests the studio now sees them as too big a market to leave waiting.

Why the rush makes sense

GTA 6 is reportedly one of the most expensive games ever made, with production costs estimated at more than $2 billion. Getting the PC audience in early would help Rockstar monetize that investment faster — and GTA Online, the multiplayer engine behind GTA 5's long tail, may also debut in 2027, according to the report.
PC players are also the audience most likely to stick around for the long haul: they mod, they stream, and they keep games alive for years. A short wait means the November hype wave never really dies down.

A leaky road to November 19

The report lands amid one of the messiest pre-launch periods Rockstar has ever endured. A hacker group calling itself CyberLeek posted a roughly 25-minute compilation of alleged gameplay footage online this month, and Take-Two's legal team has been working to pull it down.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has teased a "big story" about Rockstar due this week — he posted a photo outside Rockstar North's Edinburgh offices on Tuesday, saying it will cover the development challenges behind GTA 6 and why the game took so long.
GTA 6 is scheduled to launch November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, where it will also be streamable through Xbox Cloud Gaming under an exclusive launch-day deal. If GamesBeat's sources are right, desktop rigs will join the party just months later.
