Garmin has expanded its premium adventure smartwatch range with the new Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro, targeting athletes, runners and outdoor enthusiasts who want advanced fitness tracking combined with rugged hardware.
The Fenix 9 features an AMOLED display that is twice as bright as its predecessor, along with a scratch-resistant sapphire lens, leakproof buttons and a 40-meter dive rating. Garmin has also increased RAM by 50% compared with the Fenix 8 and introduced an upgraded mapping engine that makes map panning up to 30% faster.
The watch includes 64GB of storage, allowing users to download more maps and store up to 7,000 songs. Garmin has also introduced new stamina zones, stamina curves, improved indoor rowing metrics and expanded rucking features.
The more premium Fenix 9 Pro introduces the first titanium watch case in the Fenix lineup. Its AMOLED display can reach up to 3,000 nits of brightness, while the 51mm version features Garmin’s first 1.5-inch AMOLED display on a Fenix smartwatch.
Select Fenix 9 Pro models also include inReach satellite and LTE connectivity, enabling messaging, calling, location sharing and SOS functionality without requiring a nearby smartphone, although an active service plan is required.
Battery life remains a major selling point. Garmin says the largest Fenix 9 can last up to 29 days in smartwatch mode, while the Fenix 9 Pro reaches up to 31 days. Selected solar models can extend battery life to as much as 57 days under Garmin’s specified solar conditions.
The Fenix 9 series is available in 43mm, 47mm and 51mm sizes, positioning the new watches as Garmin’s latest attempt to dominate the premium sports and adventure smartwatch market.
