Retail marketing images have leaked what Google's next fitness tracker looks like — and they finally give the long-running Fitbit Charge line its long-overdue successor. The device is reportedly called the "Fitbit Edge," according to retail assets shared by Android Headlines and first reported by 9to5Google over the weekend.
The leak comes after a summer of hints. An unannounced tracker appeared in Google's own Pixel 11 advertising in August, and a mystery Google wearable passed through FCC filings last month. Now, the new images appear to identify that device as the Fitbit Edge, and reveal a much clearer picture of where it fits in Google's wearable lineup.
A screen at last — but no Wear OS
The most striking detail is the display: a bulbous screen that reaches much closer to the tracker's perimeter than any past Fitbit. The renderings show what looks like a Pixel Watch face adapted to this smaller shape, with the time and date joined by complications for heart rate, step count and starting a workout.
The design language closely follows the Fitbit Charge 6 formula. Metal strips on the left and right sides appear to be for ECG readings, while the back shows a band-removal mechanism at the top and bottom and a sensor stack that closely resembles the Fitbit Air — Google may even reuse the same magnetic charger.
Unlike the Pixel Watch 5, however, the Edge reportedly will not run Wear OS. It connects over Bluetooth rather than Wi-Fi, and reports note it will likely pair through the Google Health app on both Android and iOS, much like the screenless Fitbit Air.
Sitting between the Air and the Watch
A leaked comparison table puts the Edge squarely between the Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 5. Compared with the Air, the Edge adds Notifications and a set of limited apps: Google Maps, media and music controls, and Find My Phone. Built-in GPS, an altimeter for elevation tracking and automatic activity recognition round out the hardware upgrades.
Battery life is listed at up to seven days — the same figure quoted for the Fitbit Air — meaning the new display does not appear to come at the cost of week-long endurance.
The lineup logic is now easy to read: the Air is the discreet, screenless entry point, the Edge is the conventional fitness band, and the Pixel Watch 5 handles full smartwatch duties with LTE, satellite connectivity and the Google Play Store.
Colours, price and what we still don't know
The renders show the Edge in Obsidian, Olive and Canyon — the same three shades Google used on the Pixel 11 Pro — with Pixel Watch Active Band-style straps and matching casings.
Neither a price nor a release date has leaked yet. Watchers have sketched a likely bracket of roughly $150 to $200: the Fitbit Air sells for $99.99, the Pixel Watch 5 starts at $399.99, and the current-generation Charge 6 retails for $159.95 — so a mid-range tag would put the Edge exactly where the name suggests.
Any launch timing is unconfirmed, but retail listings surfacing now usually mean an announcement is not far away.
The Edge would also mark Google's first new Fitbit hardware in some time: the Charge 6 was last updated in September 2023, and Google told 9to5Google back in October 2025 that it was "launching new Fitbit hardware next year," promising "an exciting year ahead" for 2026. If the Edge is that hardware, the wait is nearly over.
