Anthropic's Claude suffered a string of outages overnight, with the longest disruption knocking its chatbot, API and coding tools offline for about 25 minutes on Saturday morning. The company says all services are now back to normal, but the repeated wobbles will have been felt by the developers and businesses that build on top of Claude every day.

The main incident began at 05:17 UTC (10:17 PKT) on October 24, when Anthropic's status page reported elevated errors across its Claude models. The disruption affected claude.ai, the Claude API, Claude Code and the company's Claude Cowork agent tool. Anthropic said it had identified the cause within about seven minutes, and by 05:42 UTC the incident was marked resolved — a total disruption of roughly 25 minutes.

A rough night for Claude

Saturday morning's outage was not the night's only stumble. Hours earlier, at 23:28 UTC on October 23, Anthropic reported elevated errors on Claude Fable 5.1, Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5, along with fast-mode requests to Opus 5.5. That incident lasted about half an hour, with success rates returning to normal before midnight UTC.

A third, briefer wobble followed in the early hours of October 24, when Opus 5.5 requests showed elevated errors for around ten minutes. Taken together, the three incidents mean Claude users on three continents woke up, or stayed up, to an unreliable service through the night.

Why a short outage still matters

Twenty-five minutes sounds small, but Claude is no longer just a chatbot people open in a browser. It powers coding assistants, customer-support tools, automated workflows and products that companies ship to their own customers. When the model stops answering, those downstream tools stall too — and the first sign of trouble is often a confused customer, not an error message.

That dependency is exactly why Anthropic runs a public status page, and why independent trackers mirror it minute by minute. For teams running Claude inside production systems, the lesson of the night is an old one: build in retries, fallbacks and clear error messages, because even the most reliable AI services go quiet sometimes.

No cause given yet

Anthropic has not published a detailed explanation for any of the three incidents. Its status updates confirm only that the issues were identified, fixed and are now resolved, with success rates back to normal across the affected models and services.

Outages of this kind are not unusual for large AI platforms, which juggle enormous, spiky demand across millions of users. What stands out here is the repetition: three separate incidents in the space of about six hours. Users will now be watching to see whether the pattern holds — or whether Saturday morning's fix proves to be the end of it.
